>"Every Pixar film—including the new Up, gushed over by Cannes Film Festival shills—is greeted with nearly patriotic fervor. This absurdity clarifies contemporary news media's unprincipled collusion with Hollywood capitalism." ... "Pixarism defines the backward taste for animation. Refuting Chuck Jones' insistence that he didn't create his great Warner Bros. cartoon for children, Pixarism domesticates and homogenizes animation—as if to preserve family values." ... "After ripping-off Albert Lamorisse's classic The Red Balloon, dispersing it into Carl's thousands of colorful orbs, Pixar then literalizes the meaning of flight as a commercial icon: Up. Here, it's simply the means to "adventures" and not an ecstatic elevation of individual identity. Last year, elitist film nerds forgot how Hou Hsiao Hsien's Flight of the Red Balloon also dishonored Lamorisse's beautiful tale—as they cynically overrated the entropic Wall-E. All this deflated cinema and Pixarism mischaracterizes what good animation can be, as in Coraline, Monster House, Chicken Little, Teacher's Pet, The Iron Giant. Up's aesthetic failure stems from its emotional letdown."

He's right you know

it's armond. you know he's right

>cgishit
>animation

>le nigger pretending to be le smart

Armond has more or less lost his edge now that most twitter contrarians sound exactly like him. Waiting for him to turn around on Marvel movies after everyone starts to hate them

Some of his reviews are spot on, but many are just contrarian and uninteresting.
He has been like this since somwhere in the early 10s I think, it might have started with Toy Story 3 when he broke the 100% score.

It's not pretentious if it doesn't rub you wrong. Oh you find him pretentious? Got detected. Armond is a based black man who stands beside mixed blacks like that three musquitos author, Gustav Petard Doe or whatever. We would do well to promote him to change nigger culture.

whats the most popular movie armond has liked that the public also likes

top gun

Aquaman starring Jason Momoa

I wonder if armond likes family guy

Don't be delusional.
Armond can be right sometimes, his reviews and seething he produces is funny, he's a good meme but Any Forumstards started unironically parroting him and it's embarrassing. There was already a thread about this.
He was an better than average film critic for quite some time, respected by his peers for decent writing style, and often he lauded filmmakers that were underrated by critics, like Bruno Dumont for example. A festival staple but constantly sparks divide in his reception. He also often pointed out how some popular movies were overrated in his opinion.
But at some point he got full of himself. He noticed that contrariansm gets the most clicks, especially political contrariansm. And since then his reviews have mostly been trying to tie in current thing politics into movies where these politics might not be even present.
While at some point he showed intellect in his writing he has dumbed down hard lately. A lot of words but mostly nonsense. He doesn't offer any alternative for the blacks, he doesn't even have any influence on them, he's known as le contrarian critic and that's it. Also his political opinions are a complete mess. He larps as some tradcath obsessed with classic America but it's clearly just a superficial aesthetic he uses to piss off as many people as possible and get clicks in the modern "i support the current thing / i oppose the current thing" climate. His early views would be categorised as pretty liberal. He just isn't a progressivist but he's still anti racist obviously and mostly pro LGBT being gay himself. Yet that's not what he offers in his writing. By trying to appeal to what is now considered a contrarian position while not actually sharing these beliefs he basically offers nothing.

ever went to his twitter? his likes are full of conservative stuff. both satirical and naive stuff

He has a certain image to uphold.

too much work for an act

he clearly buys into his own bullshit
despite these conservative views he still went out to review Power of a Dog from the lens of it being homophobic. And praised some lesser known LGBT movies.
Underage tourists fell for the meme and started taking his opinions for granted, it's just NPC behaviour. His real views somewhat shine through in the review of Bruno Dumont's France. One of his best recent reviews actually. Good movie too but wouldn't recommend for people not familiar with Dumont's work.

his review of nope was based

It was nonsense.

You're nonsense

i won't recover from this epic post

You're over analyzing his appeal. He uses meme language that appeals to edgelords like himself. There's nothing deeper to it.

>Good animation
>Chicken Little
