Polaris is actually a pretty sweet band

I met little Pete at a bar in jersey 6 years ago his band performed earlier that night and he was just chillin, I just walked up and said hi and he was cool talked to him for like 5 minutes about various things he was a nice a guy. When I was about to leave he even asked if I wanted to take a picture or get an autograph I just told him all I wanted was to shake his hand and tell him how much I loved Pete and Pete and that he was legend. The Show was a true classic one of my favorites from childhood

>god tier alt-rock soundtrack
>shot on location in the Jersey suburbs
>single camera, no laugh track
>cast that looks like real kids and not California models
>all those cool guest stars
>Toby Huss

Pete & Pete is one of a kind and can never be duplicated.

How do you feel about Strangers With Candy?

I like it a lot but wouldn’t really compare it to Pete & Pete.

You have ordered the Slimeterion collection, right? Such a great fucking show.
It was a show that had complete faith in its audience. I'm gonna sound like a boomer but they seriously don't make shows like this anymore. Look at shit like iCarly. You'd have to be an actual retard to find that show entertaining, even as a child.

I recently watched a few episodes of this and it hit me hard in the feels. My wife and I stopped at two kids. A boy and a girl, two years younger. They are great together but I now wish we had a third kid in hopes of another boy. I had a younger brother growing up and this show brought back those great memories. Such a unique and unexplainable bond that I never could duplicate with my parents, my sister, or even my best friends.

>It was a show that had complete faith in its audience

100% this. Never dumbed down, always had smart writing and great performances. I hate how Nickelodeon traded this type of sincerity for spastic, run of the mill teen sitcoms.

Absolute favorite, loved this show as a kid. I wish I could go back to those times.

>faith in its audience

You watch that Nickelodeon documentary on Hulu? They go into detail about their approach to programming, specifically how they were the first studio to aim to treat kids with respect and see their audience as a partnership.

It never occurred to me but it made a lot of sense. It really explains how the network and children's programming in general fell off a cliff when they changed their strategy.

It captures the quirks of family dynamics perfectly. Have another kid. We were going to stop at 2 (girl and boy 4 years apart) then we had our lockdown covid baby (another boy) and he's the sweetest kid ever and watching my boys play together is the best thing in my life. They're 5 and 2 and you can tell they're going to be best friends for life.

I remember thinking the mom was kinda hot.

I haven't seen that Doc actually. What's it called?

The show has some very relatable and touching family moments.

The Orange Years I think. It was like freebasing nostalgia.

They’re both great but not at all the same show. Pete and Pete is a true family sitcom, very quirky but still wholesome and genuine. SWC is a parody of sitcoms & after school specials. It’s raunchy, bordering on pornographic and never meant to be taken seriously.

Exactly. It had heart and soul and wasn't cynical. It made it seem like the ages of 12-18 were something almost mythical.

I’ve never seen another show capture summertime in the suburbs as well as Pete & Pete. That sick day episode is perfect as well.
