Good anime from the end of the good anime era. It cost a fair bit to make and made about 1/4 of its budget back, Hence why we're now stuck with CGI garbage and shows full of "cute girls doing cute things" instead of interesting ideas.

The TV show (stand alone complex) is one of the most atrocious and unintentionally hilarious things ever created, and the soundtrack by yoko kanno is literally plagiarised - there's a youtube comparison of all her ripoffs.

The fact that it's still being talked about nearly 30 years after release should tell you something
