It forced people to take "a side" when both sides had flaws, and it made people tribalistic and divided America forever. You still see the damage from this war today. And best of all, we learned absolutely nothing. The Afghanistan war was a repeat blunder and another fuck up. Our leaders are incompetent and lazy fuckups, fuck them

We lost because we couldn't invade the North and end North Vietnam without intervention from the USSR and China like in Korea. The thought was they'd just bomb the Viet Cong into oblivion but it didn't stop the guerilla funding from the North Vietnamese who then invaded the South after America left.
