Do you know anyone who owns a boat/yacht in your country?

What's their life like...

A shitload of we Swedes own boats. I own several.
There's water everywhere so it's just expected.

My sailboat. It's too shallow near my house to anchor it there so it's in a marine back in town.

looks nice. Do you sail on a lake or an ocean?

transatlantic voyages are pretty cool
Nice. They're day boats, im kind of interested in overnight or multi-day ones

yes similar to this one, also friends families have boats. we have one of the largest archipelagos in the world that's perfect for boating and sailing

many boomers have them

you go

How big is your boat? What kind? A Southerly or Alubat would be my ideal because they have swing keels

Miami seems fun

that sound pretty thrilling at 60 kmph on a boat...
i ride a scooter at that speed lmao

It's a year 1999-2000 model Najad 373 Custom.
It's a 37 footer. It's very sturdy, extremely well built and was considered a luxury yacht back in the day. The original 100 built each got their own name and mine was number 78 with the name Ocean Emerald.

Very cool user. How do you like the 37 footer? Would you feel comfortable in blue water? Transatlantic?

I think it's the perfect size for coastal sailing and even open water crossings.
They do recommend at least 40ft for transatlantic crossings but I would feel reasonably safe in my boat if I had a bit of practice first. My current goal is Iceland and back.
It used to be the UK but now with Brexit I'm not sure how that will work.

But back to transatlantic crossings, if I installed a larger freshwater tank and got some more experience sailing over open seas I'd probably do it. Sailing in US waters seem really cool. The old viking route via Greenland - Canada - USA.
There's plenty of space for two people to live comfortably inside the cabin.

In Miami it's not too uncommon to own a boat, but it's expensive.

Do you sail yourself or have some friends or family along? I don't know anything about sailing but that boat looks like it can't be handled by a single person...

I sail alone. It's fully equipped with Andersen's electric winches so once the boat is sail ready it's all controlled from the main controls. If you want some manual fun you can do it by hand and the winch system takes the place of another sailor or you turn it off completely if you sail with another real person.
