Australia isn't really conservative at all. It's a pretty progressive country it's just you can get away with being openly racist which you can't do in canada/usa

wdym? you can't get away with racism here, its just banter.

>you can get away with being openly racist
only against whites
if you say anything racist against poos or chinese they will lock you up

I'd still argue that Canada is more progressive than Australia

by republican you mean more conservative or like republicanism as in wanting to be a republic (which makes sense with you mentioning us as being closer to the British)

Obviously it is but both countries are more left-centerist when it comes to policies. Thing is usa is very far right politically but they also have the most woke culture shit. The democrats in the usa are more aligned with the conservative party here than the liberals

The second one. The american definition is retarded

By republican I meant "want to ditch the monarchy", not American republican. God you guys are americanised.

Canadians define themselves in opposition to America, i.e. they deliberately try to be what Americans are not. If the US is a republic then it follows that Canada should be a monarchy with an inbred 73 year-old king as its head of state.
It should be noted however that French Canadians don't suffer from this disease of the mind, and republicanism is highest in Quebec.

Oh OK nvm

I don't have a good answer desu.
I would say, though, that republicanism in Australia is not a very strong belief. The majority of Australians don't really care at all about us being a constitutional monarchy or republic. When people here are republican, 99% of them aren't super adamant or concerned about it. It's just people who vaguely believe that we shouldn't be part of the monarchy. Likewise most people who think we should stay part of the monarchy don't really care either, it's just that they vaguely consider it to be better.
I'm not sure if that's explained it well, but what I'm trying to say is that being a republican or monarch-supporter is something that an Australian will think about for 2 seconds before deciding, and then forget about it afterwards

Nah, it's a conservative shithole here for the most part. Our legal, financial and legislative systems have been shaped by big business, religion and rich cunts to the point that the so called "left leaning" current government just pushed through a 264 billion dollar tax cut that benefits the top earners, all while rejecting an amendment to legislation which would legally require private health providers to spend less money on administration bonuses and more on actual patient care.
If anything, this country is regressing towards the sort of bullshit landscape that American corporations are conserving.

There's nothing remotely left when it comes to policy here. What on earth gave you that idea?

Australia was settled in the 1800s
Canada was settled in the 1700s

I'm not following you

British people went to go live in Australia 150 yeaes ago

British people went to go live in Canada 250 years ago

>If anything, this country is regressing towards the sort of bullshit landscape that American corporations are conserving.
and it's beautiful

>the usa is very far right politically

the only countries that matter

Are you implying that recent British immigrants are more republican? Then why is New Zealand not as republican as Australia?
