i went last year and it went smoothly because of all the covid restrictions. Basically empty. I would fucking hate to go back now. When I had gone in 2019 it was packed and a Mexican dude got mad at me because i was "holding up the line" even though the guy in the booth told me to wait and was preparing some papers for me. There's an inherently negative aura from everyone because nobody wants to be there. Not just the workers.

Depends on where you live. I used to live in a city and the DMV was a hell of it's own. When moved I dreaded going to change my registration, but the lady was really nice and offered to just fake the inspection certificate to avoid paying for it.
