Why is the public so interested in Avatar and why does the Titanic director treat this childish Pixar movie with a rehashed story like his magnum opus he dedicates the last two decades of his life to?
This is so out of left field

It's not out of left field at all. You just haven't been paying attention. There's been regular avatar countdown threads on Any Forums for years because everyone's just in waiting mode for Cameron to finally finally reveal his epic followup. All fans knew it was coming and can't wait for it to blow us away.
>Why is the public so interested in Avatar
It's not. When the fuck was the last time you heard anyone talk about it in earnest? Where's the 50 hour analysis videos on jewtube? Where's the Na'vi porn? Nowhere. Cause nobody gives a shit. People watched it because it was baby's first 3D movie back when 3D was hyped up to be the next thing after coloured film and forgot about it.
>and why does the Titanic director treat this childish Pixar movie with a rehashed story like his magnum opus he dedicates the last two decades of his life to?
He either just acts like it to drum up hype or he's genuinely autistic about the silly blue people (which, knowing Cameron, he probably is)
That doesn't explain why Avatar 1 was such a huge deal in the first place, a generic as fuck movie
the media needs a free flight to the premier for ad revenue clicks
media must appease yidney
pic re is an avatard news story the media doesn't want to report on
>hfyfag farting about the only movie with kino alien designs being "childish"

It's only because Disney needs to justify building avatarland in Disney World when they should have waited and gone all in on star wars originally
The mouse demands it
Yes, I will be seeing Avatar 2: The Way of Water in formal attire. How could you tell?
are there any human waifus is avatar 2
At the time, it was some of the best CGI ever. That lasted all of about a year or two, and then it just looked like everything else.
>watching avatar for hfy cringe
yikes
You're right. I saw it in theatres and yeah it looked cool but really it was just as good CGI as the World of Warcraft intro movie or something. Nothing that really wow'd me at the time. It was just a lot of hype and marketing.
>Avatar
Stolen from the Namek Saga of Dragon Ball btw
As if Titanic wasn't trash like all of his other films.
James Cameron has been developing Avatar since the 1990s and it had been percolating in his head since he was a teenager. His entire career has basically been about building enough clout and technological advancement to bring his teenage fantasies of being a John Carter like hero fucking a giant space cat to life.
our society is obsessed with cats
We are all infected by toxoplasmosis
lol
I can't think of two unique similarities. Pocahontas is more like it
>Why is the public so interested in Avatar
That's just not the case.
