Pokemon masters is different from Pokemon mainline. You have "sync pairs" which is trainer + mon and they have 4 moves (typically two attacking and two that are act as buff,debuff,field effect, or healing).

Hmmm instead of the lever looking like a handle have it be a short lever switch like the original cleaver and make it on the side. So the thumb can flick the switch up and down for the special attack.

This actually looks like it has potential to be some bloodborne clone on the PC. Just make it some boomer arena FPS except with bloodborne weapons + dungeon crawler elements with traps.
Make it about killing cultists and their monsters and release it on steam.
