I feel like the monarchy would be based if they maintained some degree of traditionalism, like not letting tons of commonwealth subjects into the U.K. proper, but since they don't do even that, or exercise any real power (save behind the scenes power related to their bank accounts) it is kind of the worst of both worlds. I'm also not British though, but I have watched all of Peep Show and the Inbetweeners so that's close enough.
