What the KMT have is the Imperial Heirloom Collection, consisting of the treasures Imperial Dynasties pass down from one dynasty to the other since the Song Period. That's hardly a Million.
The KMT doesn't have- for example- the Imperial Archives for one thing. Which is why the Hanfu movement was started by Mainland Changs while the Taiwan Changs thought Peking opera costumes were "ancient Chinese clothing" lyl.

The Cultural Revolution is overrated in terms of actual cultural destruction. The students just vandalized Ming & Qing shit in & near Beijing and Shanghai, and they got punished for doing so. The rest of Chinas heritage far from the capital practically was undamaged.
