You can literally see the tensions right now, the UK and Poland are the biggest supporters of Ukraine, France and especially Germany are more ambivalent about the war and won't stop complaining about the sanctions

Without America, Europe would immediately divide into blocs again, most likely a Berlin-Moscow axis each trying to claim a sphere of influence in the west and east respectively and powering German industry with Russian resources, and a London-Warsaw axis trying to cut them off to isolate and surround Germany from the west and the east, with Paris as a wildcard
The only reason Europe hasn't reverted to constant warfare and great power politics is because America is so powerful that it can force European countries to ignore their own interests
