Is it true that Americans work 50-60 hours a week? A nine to five are 8 hours per day, and 5 days per week should be max 40 hours. I always thought of that work model as the classic American thing. But if you work 50-60 then are you guys all doing overtime every day or what?

If you work that hard, it's either because you're going into a very highly paid profession (law, medicine, upper ranks of business) or because you're poor and have no choice.

I worked 12 hours a day six days a week right out of college because I couldn't find an actual job in my field.

Then again, that place had crippling turnover even though they were paying 18 an hour for people who no experience or education.

We should stop doing that, we are subsidizing them by just having dollars.

Almanistan is what I started to call Germany a few years ago

It was a 3am to 3pm shift so it was way more than half the day when you factor in sleep.

The USA is literally just a big Europe. If Germany was continent sized and had 300 million people you would be superpower tier successful too.
