This is a universe where there is a literal "Force" that has a light side and a dark side which can be quantified you stupid fuck.

Because everything has a dark side and if it's repressed you're just setting yourself up for a fall (like the republic). The dark side is not evil it's just the side governed by passion and emotion, the lack of which caused the Jedi order to do stupid shit like not rescuing Anakins mom, exiling his padawan and constantly cuckholding him out of an abundance of dispassion.

The problem is that people treat "grey jedi" as some kind of third way in between Sith and Jedi, and it isn't, it's just a Jedi. You have doctrinaire dogooders who try to force balance and harmony, and then you have "Grey Jedi" who understand that life is complicated, you can't force things, and that people need to make their own mistakes and feel things. These Grey Jedi aren't somehow separate from the Jedi, they're just one of two views held by the Jedi order. Jolee lives in the swamp because 1) the doctrinaire dogooders didn't like him hanging around talking about nuance and 2) his more hands off approach was more applicable in the jungle than in the urban centers.

By definition, you either are Light Side, or Dark Side. You can't be in between, you have to be one, the other, or wobbling in between them. There is no third option in between because the Light Side is harmony and balance, and the Dark Side is imbalance. There's no third option, but there ARE different philosophies within those two options.

The Jedi do have flaws. The difference between them and the Sith is that the Jedi try to recognize their flaws and correct them whereas a "flaw" to a Sith would be letting morality influence his actions.

No, see . There's two schools of thought with the Jedi: the first says that the Jedi, due to their strength, power, and superior sensory capacity and understanding, should force balance and harmony. This is the Light Side. BY DEFINITION, "balance and harmony" is the Light Side. If two people are in a fight, the Jedi are authorized to go in, kick their asses to make them stop, and then sit them down and force some kind of accord. THIS side is basically the Grey Wardens.

The other side says that Jedi should not do that precisely because they are capable of it, and instead the Jedi should act as guides for society helping people in the background. Maybe there's a good reason that the two are fighting? Maybe a valuable lesson will be learned?

There is no in between balance (light side) and imbalance (dark side). Balance IS the light side.
