Baby Driver

Just watched it ... I'm not sure if to leave this open-ended to let you guys give your first impressions of it or post about my opinion... let's do the latter. I'll even do it in tiny bits so I don't discourage you with my text wall.

I knew I was getting into a bittersweet movie compared to "Now I See You" (which is far more light-hearted) but THE WAY Baby Driver fed the bittersweetness wasn't through a pill but through a syringe... through the new 2010s way...

That was absolutely the most contrasting cringiest main character I've seen in the last 50 minutes of the movie. I was not expecting to see a humiliation fetish of the mentally disabled and stupid in a heist movie, you normally get those through soap operas and slice of lifes and they're usually dramas and comedies.
That was 100% the most authentic depiction of a stupid fake autistic person I saw. He wasn't a real retard, he was just very stupid.

So the movie starts nice by promoting the kid as capable despite his quirks. Basically the 2 side characters doubt the main character and you know the side characters are going to be proven wrong every time, well that wasn't the case with this movie.

His main boss denies he's retarded then he admits "get this retard out of here" after the very awkward scene where the 2 guys act like his caretakers, absolutely a 100% depiction of how people react to a person who doesn't talk.

One of the side characters says he'll have to get his hands dirty and he does, the other side character says he knew another driver who refused to drive because his favourite song wasn't playing on the radio, he is proven right, even offering a small sample of it by Baby refusing to start the heist the first time without the music being perfectly synced to the heist. As a viewer you're thinking "Hah he's the MC in a commercial movie, he'll prove you wrong again and again, know your place side character" and sadly that isn't the case with this movie.

Some might say the writers got changed, but nope it's the same writer. It seems like Baby Driver pulled a "Ian Flynn" humiliation and second hand embarrassment fetish. The first part is there to contrast with the second part.

The side characters ranged from neutral to hateable just like Miles goes from neutral/almost likable chosen one MC to hateable. Jonas was made very relatable by killing his wife thus having a good reason to turn on the MC despite at first liking him. I would have not minded if Jonas killed the MC. I've seen MCs who don't deserve their wins but this one was Patrick Star levels of stupid and unlikable in his actions and thus did not deserve the win.

There's a lot of idiotballing in this movie.
The writer didn't seem to know how to pull off the second part without forced second hand embarrassment.
The Boss goes retard by not ditching the kid because somehow he's been with him for 10 years and they didn't get caught in those 10 years despite doing it over and over again. The money the bank robbers make make me laugh uncontrollably "200k" per heist and baby gets paid 10k and they have to split it 5 ways, somehow that's considered a lot of money in the writer's head.

The michael jackson nigger at first comes off as the sane one by criticizing Baby and being proven right ... only to go full retard himself in his second appearance by shooting everyone for no reason other than side character believes he's the main character syndrome.

The boss guy I liked him when he ditched Baby. He deserved to ditch him and that's what he should have did the first time when he kept his end of the bargain... before he contradicted himself.
Only to then get handed the idiotball too, by helping Baby get away through the excuse of "I believe in love" which leads to the second retardation that is the gf part.

The gf part. Instead of keeping his distance he keeps calling her and the gf goes along with it instead of saying no. He attempts to keep his distance, only to contradict himself and keep calling her. We're not even shown from her perspective what she did when Baby didn't show up at 2AM as promised.

Apparently in 10 years I'm suppose to believe the boss didn't know where Baby lives, didn't know he records stuff, didn't know how he'd react to bossing him around.

TL;DR

nice blog faggot

Baby Driver is treated like Sonic the Hedgehog, a force of nature. You do not reason with it, you go along with it. Unfortunately this specific force of nature is indecisive and a compulsive liar which lead to the mother of all contradictions in this movie. But again you could argue the force of nature was made indecisive in the first place by a bunch of idiots.

The most naive common sensical parts anyone would tell you is that if Baby had just been honest then he wouldn't have ended up killing everyone. Or if he had presented himself that his quirks are not worth the trouble and to respect the force of nature and leave it the fuck alone instead of trying to control it then the boss would have left him alone.
Or rather the problem was letting a child take the decisions, that was another massive idiotball in trusting an indecisive MC with where the wind will blow.
The MC keeps flip-flopping like the boss guy about what to do and they might as well like Batman's Two-Face just flip a coin twice every decision and you'd get the same course of action as their decision making skills.

Some also could say that if the boss and the michael jackson nigger hadn't made him sour then he wouldn't have went out of control. And that the kid did the right decision by acting so retarded he gets kicked out rather than quitting.

The nephew felt almost like the original character intended for the movie, an actual kid rather than a teenager, but the writer wanted his gay circlejerking romance in the movie. Or perhaps a spin-off show.

and finally let's remind ourselves that retarded is used as synonym for stupid like "you're so stupid you might as well be retarded".
Someone might have also made the funny connection that "autism? is that hearing-related problem?" and thought to pair audio and autism together.

Thanks, subscribe to it. It's a lot better than Any Forums's bottom of the barrel posts.

In conclusion Baby Driver is a great example of contradictions, misunderstandings, greed, idiotballing, commercialism and "autistic" millennials with the social cognition of a kid caught in school by his teacher without the homework done, without a pen, without pants and without a good excuse.

But if you can get over these things the movie's action is still 90s and 2000s worthy ... if you can stomach some 2010s flavor of sabotage here and there.

But hey tell me your opinions on the movie, Any Forums. Personally all the inconsistencies didn't lower my enjoyment of it that much, I'd still rank it a 7.8/10. However I would prefer to watch a version where I do not die of second hand embarrassment for the MC and do not have to feel the need to side with the supporting the character and wish for him to kill the Chosen One MC.

It's like The Matrix if suddenly Neo's autism made him a compulsive liar and Morpheus let him make all the decisions blindly without knowing what he's getting himself into.

I cringed in the first scene and should have quit

You sound like a pseud faggot. The movie was pretty fun and with a good soundtrack, that's about it.

It was fun and the songs were decent. Good chase sequences with the cars. The cringe however took me by surprise.

It's definitely a unique movie with that 1 element, normally the heist movie main character is a badass instead of a sperg.

That nigger deserved worse than death.

I watched the movie less than one year ago and I don't know what you're talking about half of the time.

But yeah, the main character was an unlikable asshole and her girlfriend was an even bigger idiot. The Terminator dude made me laugh a couple of times.

I only watched it for Lily

They should have dedicated that screentime to a flashback of his boss meeting him, would had been better than the nigger getting idiotballed to shoot everyone. That should had been the MC's job, not a side character's. Or the MC could have did an unlikely alliance with the nigger which backfired on them both.

>good soundtrack
Trash normie soundtrack for a heist movie. Who the fuck plays Queen during a chase sequence? You need fast music like Initial D and techno.

I see threads about Baby Driver barely go above 13 replies ... a few are above 100 replies, but there's no good posts in them.

Jesus Christ was everyone a gypsy in this movie?

The nigger was dumb as ballsack.

Subaru & Ipod commercial in its exterior. Its like a music video heist musical if it was a thing. It was ok for the most part.
