When does it become shit?

For me it’s when Pam gets more sceentime

Around the time Pam and Jim marry.
The humour suddenly became bleak, mean and cruel.

The office was best after Michael Scott left and peaked with Robert California

Season 5, none of the characters act like themselves anymore

Terrible bait

S6 is when it all goes to shit. You can tell they just literally ran out of ideas.

Agreed 100%. In fact I would go so far as to say the show would have been much better if it started with Robert California as the boss from the get-go and there was no Michael Scott.

Season 2 is the absolute peak

starts to dwindle at the end of season 3, has its moments during season 4 but overall quality has dropped off significantly. season 5 and beyond is unwatchable

the reasoning? it started with depicting how a bunch of normal, boring, realistic people in an office deal with an autistic but loveable boss and his autistic and barely loveable assistant regional manager. then it gradually started doing this bit where everyone in the office is wacky and funny and the contrast between michael and the normal boring office workers was completely lost.

after michael leaves
the first season is shit too

This

This. It strayed too much from what made the early seasons so good. It's funny that Michael is dumb, incompetent, and says stupid shit all the time. Who hasn't worked a job with a manager like Michael in some way?

Assistant *TO the regional manager

this. it ruined everything

The default answer would be "when Michael left", but I think it was earlier, around season 5. It's hard to pinpoint, since it was a slow burn.
