Itachis plan towards Sasuke:
1. Traumatize him into obsession
2. Force him to kill Itachi
3. Uchiha clan is cleaned of treason this way and Sasuke is strong
4. Sasuke returns to Konoha and restarts the clan
4a. If Sasuke remains traitor, plant Shisuis eye into Naruto. Naruto will follow Sasuke and when Sasuke lays his sharingan on him, the crow will come out and cast Kotoamatsukami on him branwashing him to be loyal to Konoha

Sasuke becoming an obsession of Orochimaru wasn't part of his plan, the whole thing with Naruto was a back up plan he had for when Itachi got rid of Sasuke's curse mark for if Obito told Sasuke the truth and wasn't killed by the amateresu Itachi planted into his eye. He also needed Sasuke to be strong enough to kill Obito , since Itachi was dying of disease due to his mangekyo sharingan usage.
