i remember in 4th or 5th grade we read some fiction novel about some jewish kid in the holocaust who escapes one of the concentration camps, and parts of the boom are way too graphic for 10 year old kids
then in middle school im pretty sure we read elie wiesels night and had a holocaust unit like every year from grade 6-8, not exaggerating
but the thing thats so fucked up is i dont really remember any specifics bc i was so young, just vague vignettes of violent and depressing scenes from books and documentaries (one i remember in particular is some long march through the snow where people got shot if they stopped and it talked about how someone had dysentery etc), images of trains and work camps, visualisations about how much space 6million matchsticks would take up,
basically like mkultra programming all throughout school that you dont actually explicitly remember but it leaves you with vague impressions and very strong sentiments about the topic
it literally takes deprogramming to be able to look at the holocaust objectively weighed against other atrocities committed during the war
