Isn't Argentina so liberal that you don'r even need a visa once you arrive? I was told that I could just fly to BA; rent a apartment then ask for a passport. Is that true?

In order to get an argentinian passport you must become a citizen, in order to become a citizen you must live legally in Argentina for two years, in order to stay legally in Argentina for two years you must get a residence permit (for working studying, whatever).
