Idk man but do NOT tell /lang/ trannies that you want to improve your English. Worst mistake of my life

not useful honestly. It engages you for a bit at first, but you quikly find out its kinda shit and you just stop using it. I wonder what their retention rate is.

Anyway I don' get the overwhelming hate of duolingo suddenly. Is it going to completelt make you fluent in a language all in its own? No. Will any single app or method? No.

I don't get the hate, it's actually really good for learning a different alphabet and basic pronunciation

desu its good to get you oriented and easy enough that you can just use it for quick practice when you only have like 2 mins
for easy scandi germanic languages like dutch you can basically just do the duolingo + anki + reading (eg online on Any Forums) and itll actually be enough to become fairly proficient
i even really liked the german duolingo even tho i didnt get far
japanese is pretty dogshit tho (coming from someone whos half japanese and can speak it)
but yeah just getting started + easy supplement its pretty good

Generally a waste of time. There are much more effective ways to learn a language.

If I had to learn another language I'd go to Udemy instead.
