From the looks of it, the SCAF will be cancelled or built by Germany alone.
Our contingency plans for newer Rafale standards while Dassault develops a new plane by itself seem likelier by the day.

Sad day for Europe.

Let's be real now, whatever plane you guys could've come up with along with Germany, I'm positive the US' NGAD will have it beat

The sad day for EuROPE is when you realise that we have no banger drone. Tremendously sad. Airbus defense nor dassault manage to do their job, nEuron going to the sewer also.

>I'm positive this plane which hasn't been designed yet will be superior to this other yet undesigned plane

clearly, you are an expert

>American hardware mogs everything else
You are aware that the US cancelled their embarrassingly failed LCS program and hastily ordered twenty frigates from Italy instead?
(and some senator recommended that the US sold those useless ships to allied navies, lmao)

Yeah you're right I'm sure a country with the only 5th gen fighter currently operating without restraints and fully developed will somehow not have a leg up to countries whose best fighters are art least two generations behind and haven't had significant modifications in recent memory

DESU France just needs to swallow its pride and buy American jets only. Also when Macron dropped the ball during Ukraine conflict proved you can't lead Europe's defense policy

>5th gen
marketing meme
And the US still rely on their F-15. An actually good plane.

>significant modifications in recent memory
never heard of the Rafale standards I see (Rafale which still wins evaluation contests over US planes and still is an hot export item, btw)

>still is an hot export item,
To countries unable to afford F-35s, that is

F-35 is the logical buy for Spain anyway. Don't you need carrier-capable aircraft for your helicopter carriers anyway? F-35 fits that too, plus it's probably gonna be cheaper due to economics of scale and lots of allies use it already.

FCAS could've been a decent Rafale/Eurofighter replacement, but France doesn't understand the concept of cooperation, they insist on being the leader and the others getting scraps, so it may well fail.

Germany definitely won't develop a fighter aircraft on its own though, we haven't done that since WW2.

Certainly not. American planes are overpriced and can't be used without US approval.
And in the case of the F-35, it's downright shitty.
And the Rafale makes good money on the export market. And there are still about a dozen countries planning to buy them.

>a ramp
Oh no no no
Spenbros...

>France doesn't understand the concept of cooperation
what? cooperation is the only reason Dassault wasn't awarded a contract from the start

>they insist on being the leader and the others getting scraps
clearly there is serious misrepresentation in either your media or ours (or both), it's presented the other way around, here.

bruh people still believe in boomerllord peirre sprey's lies about the F-35

Truth is, no one can compete with the US because of scale. How can you set up an efficient production line for a run of 200 planes that can compete with one of 3000?

>F-22 but with crooked teeth and slanted eyes
No thanks

FCAS is a system of systems. It includes the actual fighter aircraft, engine, drone swarms, and AI. Drone loyal wingman and AI component is meme shit which was given to Spain and Germany. The actual stuff that matters was given to France, the fighter and the engine. And as it seems, there will be no consortium for the aircraft like there was for the Tornado and Eurofighter. It's basically all Dassault/Safran, but Germany and Spain are expected to pay a third of the bill. A completely bullshit deal. Idk if Merkel actually agreed to this for muh Franco-German partnership, but this is no partnership, it's a bad joke.

Dassault just need to be able to produce an Ok tier jet that is ITAR free and they will make a buck.

People in this thread don't realise the problem of buying American.

> France doesn't understand the concept of cooperation

bro...
this was taken at the last ILA Berlin Air Show. And made by Germans.
See who were "forgotten"?
Thales. Dassault. Indra.

whoa, some irrelevant poster is the same as the actual contract and project...

>People in this thread don't realise the problem of buying American
Let's hear it
