Neutral is more correct for Sweden. 'Fosterlandet' (the foster land) is much more commonly used than 'Fäderneslandet' (the father land), both today and historically

We say "la patrie" which literally means "the fatherland" though
Sometimes we say "la mère patrie" which means "the mother fatherland" but it is less common
