Why do they need so much gas?

We (United States of America) will win in the end

Our oil production surpassed russia 4 year ago back in 2018

guess the iraq war really did pay off

Today, we produce 50% more than russia (and still rising rapidly). We won.

That 85% full is 85% of the 20% of the total annual German consumption

i'm dumb. why are the prices so high if russian gas is only 10% now?

You would know...

Standard oil (Exxon mobile) use to produce 95% of the world oil back in early 1900s. We will return to that number

because the alternative to cheap russian gas is obviously more expensive? why do you think they imported so much russian gas in the first place, so putin could afford a new yacht?

Its mostly due to fracking becoming technologically viable enough. Too bad europeans started banning it prematurely back in early 2010s before the result shows for itself a decade later.

"Henry hub" is pipeline gas in Louisiana. LNG is liquified natural gas transported on ships.

Russia doesn't have that much to do with the energy crunch. It's been building for a while now. Mostly due to a sharp increase in demand as countries come out of lockdown.

German gas storage capacity is about 1/3 of their demand through the winter, so when the pipeline is cut someone is still gonna freeze anyway

We're back OIL BARONS

I don't find it hard to believe because energy prices seemingly rose long before the war. But lockdowns ending made everyone use lots more energy than before kung flu? How does that work?

Demand for natural gas in Europe peaked in 2005-2010.
