Years ago almost everywhere was very cold and full of snow.
Nowadays, you have to move up NORF to see a bit of snow.
In the Pacific Northwest there's no real winter just an extended fall from November to March where it rains and rains and rains and rains and rains some more.

Pennsylvania has a proper four season climate with distinct spring, summer, fall, and winter. In some regards it's worse living in the South or PNW where winter is an extended autumn like user said with lots of cold rain which really sucks, probably worse than freezing temperatures and snow.
