How terrible is internet speed in America...

How terrible is internet speed in America? I've heard from a few people in places like west VA and MI saying they can't even get the decent speed internet at their house and have to go to internet cafes.

it's great if you're not a flyover

price?

Is this going to be one of those threads where spergs replace their lack of a personality with their internet speed?

I've seen a lot of rural places get fiber run to them. I think there must've been some initiative to do it for rural areas.

cope

That sounds like something people would do back in 2006 my dude

hol' up i lived missiissipi and comcast provided 150 gb for only $75 it was a good connection no issues got stable 20ms ping on rainbowsix

it's extremely mediocre

cell signal is legitimately the worst out of any country i have ever been in. even in major metropolitan areas i have trouble getting a good signal even when i have “5 bars”.

it’s actually embarrassing that i could get better down/up cellular data in Vietnam and Mexico than I can in my home (Washington, DC).

when i lived in arizona our internet would go down whenever someone used the microwave

Why would a man need more than 100 mbps?

How are you pulling that much? Most residential internet speeds will max out around 200-300mbps, not even the Dubai or Malaysia is achieving that kind of speed.

Also happens to me whenever I use microwave. It messes up the Wi-Fi signal

he's a bitch ass fed

I get around 200-250mbps, you can get something in 4K in minutes.

Weird, that doesn't happen with me.

they don't have fiber in Australia?

>need
communists pls leave

We have fiber but it's also about how much you pay and how far away you are. The center of a city would be pretty high but I've only known regional speeds by living in smaller cities, which usually top out around 300mbps.

I get pic related for like 30$, supposed to be 1gig down 100mega up but alas the router is in the living room so I just use a mesh wifi system, hundreds time better than typical range extenders
actually the fastest average internet speed in the world is probably in chile, let me see if I can find the list from ookla.

I pay about 75€/month but it would be like 60€ if I stepped down to 100mb
those are the only two speeds available at my isp

Fiber splicer here, all of the old dogshit copper lines are gradually being replaced. Even my small country town has fiber.

I get 100 down/20 up out here in semi-rural MI.

But yes, if I were to move out to the real boonies, ~40 minutes away, then I would have no real choices and potentially have to go with satellite internet.

Weird, I really would've thought #1 would be Malaysia or something.

Goddamn dude, 60€ for only 100mbps? You suffer in Iceland.

Same with here. There's been a massive project nationwide for a few years to replace all the copper lines with fiber.

Forgot to add, yes the government provides cable companies financial incentives to cover these areas. They’re a bitch to maintain in natural disaster prone areas though, and aerial lines go down easily in storms. Only rich people and rich areas get underground fiber.
