Honestly Romanians shouldn't be considered part of the Romantic language group. No one knows what Romanian sounds or looks like outside of Romania.

Romanian actually looks and sounds a lot more Latin than Portuguese and French.

Until the 1800s romanian had 30-40% slavic derived vocabulary and used the cyrillic alphabet
