Chicago is not a hot real estate market. People are leaving because of the crime, climate and always increasing tax burden. So you can get nice stuff for much less than nyc or los angeles, which is where every genuine richfag wants to be. People only move to chicago because they get priced out of more hip places basically.

Yes, I have a studio for 700 USD/month, utilities included in a big city. Granted not the best area, but it's very safe in the complex area. Also crime has a different flavor here

Old jugend buildings in citycenter are expensive, its great investment. They will never build more of it so it becames more scarce compared to new neighborhoods.
