Why do they insist on pairing Sonic with humans?
>But Robotnik is-
One guy, whose part cyborg. I'm talking everyday human characters. At least Sonic SatAM kept it with other animals.

He's at his best in the human world.

Citation needed.

Sonic Adventure 2 was the best story in the series

How else are little kids going to self-insert then??

Sonic was always on Earth. Nobody cares about the shitty western furry shows.

There were always meant to be humans in the Sonic setting, only tourists would tell you otherwise.
>cyborg
Only in early western canon. The current party line is that Eggman is too much of a narcissist to willingly modify himself. He literally thinks he is perfect.

Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Sonic Mania
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Unleashed.

As the furries. Not to BECOME furries thought that definitely will and has happened but AS Sonic's friends who just so happen to be furries.

Based. Though the devs did a great job portraying San Fran too, which really helped. SA2 was really at the ass end of where SEGA games peaked aesthetically. Zoomers will never, ever understand how amazing the Saturn and Dreamcast were.

>One guy, whose part cyborg
No he's not. He's a normal guy, born in 1931 according to Sonic's creators.

It's easier to have a character for the audience to 'relate' to. It sucks, but it's a crutch the writers use to help people get into the world. Also nice to have a character fresh so they can ask question, have exposition explained to them etc.

I think there's a difference between being in a world with humans, and having a human sidekick. Also, heads up, but Sonic has always been in the 'human world.' On the JP side of things, Mobius really didn't exist, instead leaving the lore open ended so each region can create their own. The whole animal planet dimension shit was English exclusive. JP Sonic even referenced locations on Earth from time to time, so the transition to Adventure and Adventure 2 weren't some ground breaking lore change. The stories just happen to show the humans.

It wasn't until years later with Generations that the timeline was split, and even then, it's kept vague (at least its not Mobius)

Sucks the weird Mobius shit retroactively seeped into JP for a hot minute with Sonic X. Made sense for the movie, because general audiences would have issues grasping that 2 foot talking animals were the norm in that universe, so making them 'aliens' helps.

Western Canon is better.

The 90's western canon is just the actual canon but worse. They added furries and a generic dystopia for some reason.
None of the games except Sonic Spinball and Mean Bean Machine ever use the western canon, they all take place on Earth with humans in them (even the Classics, as CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles prove). So to like the western canon means you like the tv shows, comics, Puyo Puyo, and Sonic Spinball, but nothing else.

Nah, the concept of this little guy running around the world with next to no back story, just saving the day, the running off for his next adventure, is way more interesting the weird dystopian freedom fighter set up.

Hell, part of what makes the intro to Sonic CD so fucking cool is that it's just him running towards his next adventure. Sonic shouldn't have a back story, he's just a force of nature that shows up to save the day. That's part of why he's so cool in the older games, but started to become a joke the more he talked in games.

what, like AoStH?

That's less 'cool' more comedy, but yeah, that set up was better than stupid dystopian shit.

No, because AOSTH is also the shitty western canon you like

how so?
