ruined baseball and all of sports. you can't drive a run in from second base on a walk, something these nerds will never figure out

Baseball and all other sports were ruined by being bad. The only watchable sports are ones where people fight each other.

Wasn’t there a Simpsons episode about this idea?

It’s weird because Baseball is a stat driven sport, they have numbers for everything to determine how good someone is
>home runs
>runs
>hits
>strikeouts
>RBI
>ERA
>batting average
>WHIP

yea, it's like a boxer that wins every match by a 3 point countback
the true spectator really wants to see knockouts

You get pitch counts up and keep your lineup moving. Statistically most pitchers fuck up the further into a game they get to, which gives your hitters a better shot. It also chases the starter from the game, and because most baseball teams are too cheap to invest in a good bullpen, it means that you'll likely be seeing a reliever you can hit, or at least put in a pinch hitter to get a better odds of driving in a run.

Did you even watch the movie? They spell it out for you, the entire purpose was to get the hitter to first base.

This post was 100% made by a zoomer.

>Omits Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito
I get that the A's were the scrappy underdog, but they really couldn't even mention that they had a dominant top 3 in their rotation?

It's not a documentary.

Jonah Hill was nominated for an Oscar for this movie for the sole reason that he wasn't playing a fat funny guy, just a fat boring guy

this would carry weight if baseball hadn't turned into little more than a home run derby filled with dingers and strike outs
the people like small ball
the people like errors
football without fumbles is boring
I DEMAND THE DANCING MONKEYS SPILL THEIR SPAGHETTI

They were crucial to the A's success that year and they aren't mentioned. It's like if they made a movie about the Lakers winning three titles in a row and didn't mention Shaq or Kobe.

It's the same shit with the NBA, coaches finally figured out they had a better chance of winning if they shot more 3 pointers. Now every game is a glorified 3 point shooting contest.

Why don't Europeans like baseball?

It's not a documentary. It's about new ideas clashing with old ways of doing that, and changes to the original story were made to clarify and strengthen its themes.

big plays come with the risk of mistakes
it is teams always playing the safe option and the percentages that is a cancer and what separates the GOATs from the rest

When you do nothing but swing for the fences strike outs and high fly outs are the only mistake you'll ever make.

baebaw

Philip Seymour Hoffman was in this movie and he had nothing to do.

He was good in it.

It wasn't that they weren't using stats in Baseball, its that they were placing high value in the wrong things.
