why Turks live mostly in blocks of flats when they have so much free space to build detached houses?

seriously i can't understand Turkish urbanism but desu, it applies to all med countries, including Spain or Greece.

>have unlimited free space which isn't occupied by agriculture due to poor soil
>still don't use it for housing purposes

at least in eastern Europe the big number of commieblocks is explained with a harsh cold climate which makes houses more expensive to maintain but it's not the case in med countries. Still average EE country has more detached houses than meds.

dumb pole strikes again, nobody cares about detached houses

everyone does, that's why the more first world the country is, the more people live in houses, with few exceptions

in Scandi countries it's also like that and don't pretend it is not, poorer people live in blocks of flats, richer people in detached houses. When a family gets richer, they sell their apartment and buy a house in the suburbs. And that's despite Scandi climate isn't really conducive to living in detached houses.

Turkey on the other hand should look like at least Serbia where most people live in houses.

here is the outskirts of Ankara, apparently there isn't much farming probably because of low soil quality. It could be a perfect place for a huge suburb with detached houses yet they built tall blocks instead.

walkable city...

>at least in eastern Europe the big number of commieblocks is explained with a harsh cold climate
That's not why most commieblocks were built

>poorer people live in blocks of flats, richer people in detached houses.
lol no, rich people lives in city apartments that are way more expensive than houses. Wagies can only afford houses from outskirts to fit whole family

partially it is, muh central heating was one of the most reedeming features of commieblock housing which is why people moved there so willingly from their shitty wooden houses - they were damnably cold in the winter

>When a family gets richer, they sell their apartment and buy a house in the suburbs.
This is biggest load of bullshit i have ever heard, stop talking about other others you dont know anything about.

>lol no, rich people lives in city apartments that are way more expensive than houses.

you're talking about some 0.1% of society which is irrelevant in the bigger picture

generally promotion from lower middle class to actuall middle class or upper middle class is being done by moving from a block of flats to a detached (semi-detached, sometimes even terraced) house

there is a reason why immigrant ghettos are created in block of flats, not in detached housing areas

that's what roaches do they live close to each other despite having unlimited land

calm down, just because you're not rich enough to buy yourself a house doesn't mean you're a worse person, apparently you just need to work more but one day you will be able to buy it

my apartment costs twice more than house 1 hour away from city

is this problem somehow addressed/discussed in Turkey? do you have popular figures who advocate for change in urbanism and switching to building more detached housing instead (like easing zoning laws or whatever prevents them from being built)?

exceptions can happen everywhere but again, the general rule is that the poorest people live in blocks of flats, middle/upper middle class lives in detached houses.

Filthy rich elite people have so many properties so you can't really say where they actually live, they can have several apartments as well as many houses, villas, palaces all around the world.

It's all about money user. If someone have a land they want to make profit from it.

If you build 1 house, you wil only get 1 house. If you build an apartment you will get at least 10 houses which you can sell each.

nah we have more important things to worry about like immigrants but i don't think anybody will adress this situation

>It's all about money user. If someone have a land they want to make profit from it.

this principle should work everywhere yet if you look at already mentioned Serbia you can see, despite being poorer than Turkey and similarly 'lawless' and money-oriented, they largely live in detached houses. I'm not saying there are no commieblocks at all but more than half of the society live in houses

This image captures Turkey outside the cities perfectly
Imagine american style suburbs but wider and replace the McMansions with commie flats, that is turkish urban planning

actually 4x times more if i would like to buy older house, could get house twice chaper that has indoor swimming pool and almost 300m2, rich people live in cities not among working class families in houses.
