Tenet

Not that user but, this role gets a mulligan inasmuch as Pitt hadn't broken out into the mainstream yet. He was still a TV guy at the time, with bit parts like Floyd in 'True Romance' admittedly kino and Floyd was hilarious.
If we are talking post-Se7en appearances, I'll float 'Meet Joe Black'. Absolute shit.

Wait, is that true? Se7en was the movie that made Brad Pitt famous?

Nah. Thelma and Louise did. By Se7en he already had enough clout to say he'd drop out if the studio dared change the ending.

T&L got him noticed, the A River Runs Through It, True Romance and Interview made him a leading man. Se7en was his real mainstream breakthrough.

They did change the ending of Se7en, although Pitt and Fincher were able to negotiate a compromise. The studio wanted Somerset to kill John Doe. Fincher and Pitt wanted Mills to kill Doe, then immediately cut to black - end of film. They compromised by having Mills kill Doe and added the final scene showing Mills under arrest and implyed Somerset would stay on the force, so the ending was still bleak, but not as bleak as Pitt & Fincher wanted.

By the time he did Se7en he'd done Thelma and Louise, Kalifornia, Interview With the Vampire, and Legends of the Fall. He'd very much broken out already. There's a reason the True Romance trailers advertised his minor supporting role.

he didn't beat that flip enough, that's his problem

The studio originally wanted the wife to live and Pitt said he'd drop out. That was the biggest change on the cards, from there it was smaller compromises.

The Devil's Own

Wrong because he put on a very authentic Irish accent in The Devil's Own.
