What exactly does a city have that the countryside doesn't?
How often do you use those things?
Are they worth the rent and smaller housing?
All the garbage on the pavements?
What exactly does a city have that the countryside doesn't?
I only live in the city because of my job. I want a remote job.
Why do you HAVE to work that exact job though?
I don't have transferrable skills yet. After a year I should be in a better position.
>What exactly does a city have that the countryside doesn't?
Specialized goods and services within "walking" distance
>How often do you use those things?
Depending on good or service, daily to once in a lifetime
>Are they worth the rent and smaller housing?
I own a flat in a good district
>All the garbage on the pavements?
It's surprising clean
I moved to the "country" (America doesn't really have this) when I went remote. It's nicer but it's a lot more alienating.
Why even get a specialized job if you don't want to live in the city?
Better public transportation
More stores and better hours when they are open
Better internet
That's about it and in the future I want to become a hermit in an isolated cabin in the countryside
There aren't many jobs at all, specialized or unspecialized, outside of the city here
>Better public transportation
You don't need public transportation out in the countryside because driving is cheaper and more practical than in the city
>More stores and better hours when they are open
True, but most speciality stores only need to be visited once or twice and many people do their shopping online
I won't say that longer shopping hours is worse, but I rarely if ever use it
>Better internet
Not really true for Norway
eto my beloved
Night life
Girls
Events
A lot of people to meet
not that it makes a difference for a terminally online 4incel, tho
>What exactly does a city have that the countryside doesn't?
Cheap apartments, kebab place across the street, liquor store down the street, NEETbux office across town and lots of streets to nightwalk on.
>How often do you use those things?
Every fucking day.
>Are they worth the rent and smaller housing?
Well, yeah. My apartment is as cheap as they come. The countryside is not cheap.
>All the garbage on the pavements?
City is pretty clean. A lot better than smelling fucking cowshit everyday in the middle of nowhere but I guess that's "SOVL".
>What exactly does a city have that the countryside doesn't?
women
Prostitutes
I don't drive and I won't drive in the future. Best I'll do is a bicycle.
Honestly the longer hours don't matter to me that much either because I can't get beer after 21 and hence there is no point going to the store after that.
You can drive to the events if there is anything interesting
Having to drive 1 hour to a concert isn't a big deal
Most people don't club into their thirties so nightlife isn't that important unless you are young (and most young people study in the city when they are at that age anyway)
Most people aren't worth meeting
The comment about clubbing applies to girls as well, by the time you move out into the country again you most likely have met someone already
How do you not have a car lisence?
It's not optional unless you want to live in the city for the rest of your life and always have to rely on public transport
Bars, restaurants, coffee shops, plays, orchestras, symphonies, young girls going through their slut phase
daily, weekly
yes, I’ve always been a minimalist so I’ve never wanted a boomer mcmansion
yes, most cities are pretty clean in the nicer areas
They have pretty cheap apartments out in the countryside in Norway
We also have a "street kitchen" and a "grill" which is open late into the night
Is having to drive literally 5 minutes to the store (for alchohol and regular amenities) really that big of a deal?
The city I studied in was extremely dirty and every pavement looked like a trash can
The countryside only smells like shit for like two weeks a year max and that is only if you live near a field
I won't go into detail but I'm honestly terrified of traffic because of something that happened to me earlier in my life. I'm also very absent minded so even if I got over the fear I don't think I'd be able to keep my mind on driving for long periods.
I've done just fine so far with my legs, public transportation and bicycle. Will be much harder if I move to the countryside but I'm not really planning on living in bumfuck nowhere, I'll have a store and a liquor store in 5km radius and that's really good enough for me. If I need something specific I can get it online or just go a bit farther for one time. If I need to go into a city I can use a train.
Sure, it'll make my life harder but I don't really care.
>Bars, restaurants, coffee shops
I suppose, but why would you want to eat outside when making food at home is cheaper, more comfortable and probably faster as well?
I did like sitting at a coffee shop once in a while, but only because I didn't have enough space at home
If you live in a house you can have a room for sitting and drink coffee
>plays, orchestras, symphonies
Don't even bring this up, I can guarantee that 95% of cityfags have NEVER been there and you know it
>young girls going through their slut phase
I'll concede this
In Sweden if you want cheap apartments you need to head far as fuck up north.
That means tiny ass villages with one shop and 45 minutes to the nearest booze shop.
>Is having to drive literally 5 minutes to the store (for alchohol and regular amenities) really that big of a deal?
Yeah. I can't drive. Because firstly I'm a fucking NEET. Secondly, I got epilepsy and reoccurring micro seizures even with meds. And the random grand mal seizures where I get completely knocked out.
Oh, I should probably have mentioned healthcare. I live within 5 minutes of a major hospital and less than 300 meters from a health center.
And just because your city was a trashy shithole... Well you can probably guess.
At least here, because margins are so slim and rely on bulk, you have to be making less than $3/hr to justify cooking yourself when considering time to purchase, cook and clean up.
I like pretty much only sleeping at my apartment and spending my time at different places, but to each their own
I bring it up because I go at least twice a month, usually every friday it’s dinner then play/concert then drinks with my gf
