No it is true, for the UK there isn't one universal standard that universities have to abide by and it's probably the same elsewhere. They set their own exams etc, and since alot of these rankings are based on bs indicators like "student satisfaction" the universities get into a dumb game where they make exams easier so students get higher grades just to make students feel better and vote better for the university. My mid tier university had a fuck ton of Chinese students who paid like 2x domestic fees aswell, but I think Chinese numbers dropped off a cliff the last couple of years

It makes me feel really sad. This is the grim level of thirdie-ism where you have some type of hope or aspiration and you have some sort of talent but literally no opportunity.

Let's say you're a B grade student from Angola. You really want to make something of yourself but you can't get a scholarship to go the west and the local universities are corrupt, so the best you can do is save up and study in India in the vague hope it's going to give you an edge when you get back to Angola, where there are a handful of opportunities you're desperately vying for.

Being a nonbrainlet thirdie is pure pain. Everything you do seems pathetic by firstie standards. Going to study abroad, in India is like wearing a pair of abibas shoes or having a sungsam phone, but its only natural that they desire and aspire to things we firstoids take for granted.

I would imagine that "local universities" probably don't exist for half of those countries. Many of them have very young populations and alot of educated thirdies move to the west, which does not leave anywhere near enough people behind to teach
