What I find is that they view the environment in terms of human productivity.
For instance, I've had people argue that grass fed livestock is much better for the environment that factory farming because you just sustain them on the land they're already on. He forgot to take into consideration that ranches were created by killing and driving off the native herbivorous and their predators and turned the entire area into a mono species harvesting operation.

the west only has right wing parties, Canada and America have never once had a socialist party. Our "left wing parties" are built on the same profiteering and laissez faire free market strategies as our right wing. This is why in Canada you are forced to own a car since the automotive and housing corporations run our nation. Wow I love the environment, I bought a 3 ton made of rare earth metals and shipped across the planet car but this one is electric.
