>Allahabad
It means the city of Allah
>Amhadabad in Gujarat
It means the city of Amhed / Amhad
They have other cities like that.
I thought Indians were anti-Islam for obvious reasons, so why don't they rename these cities with an Indian name ?

Allahabad was renamed to Prayagraj in 2018, it'll just take a while for everyone to get used to it.
Not sure about Ahmedabad but a lot of old muslims names cities and neighbourhood are slowly being renamed
interesting. I can only think of one place in Muslim majprity Indonesia named after an Islamic thing (Kudus) but I can think of dozens of places named after Hindu things
and the muslim kept quiet?
Thats because you were converted by Arab traders, not Mughal conquerors
Isn't "Maluku" Arabic (al-Mulk)?
>Abbottabad, Pakistan
BONG'D
no, the name maluku existed even before arab contact, it's mentioned in negarakrtagama
idk i don't live anywhere near allahabad but they're probably still calling it the old name same with most older people
>allahabad literally renamed. they are renaming other things too. Its a bit sad desu because its just a ploy to divert attention by creating a controversy, for example the recent Aurangabad change. Also I wouldn't mind if they named them a bit better, they really like to chudify names here for no reason (non-muslim ones) like Gurgaon to Gurugram
for what? at least name it with something sounding similar like calcutta to kolkata, bombay to mumbai
prayagraj doesn't sound anything like allahabad
shit didnt mean to green
yes but it will be done in two generations. for example mumbai
prayag is the pre-islamic name, idk why they added raj it sounds terrible
It's to distinguish from the Islamic occupation past. Just like Indonesia renaming Batavia back to Jakarta.
It's the old name for the place supposedly anyway, it's the same reasoning for calcutta and Bombay.
Do you guys still feel the Hindu influence in your cunt? Seeing that a lot of your city names are Sanskrit or something similar.
Is there presently any Indian influence on Indonesia? Or is that a thing of the past?
>calcutta & Bombay
not comparable, prayag was an important city the other two were villages and the cities are entirely colonial creations
any indian influence is not seen as indian, just indonesian. most people don't even know about the chola invasions.
Stop posting this image you abonigger
most of them even have hindu names
I guess that makes sense because it was over a millennia ago. Since I only know Indonesia through maps and such I was just curious
no.
for example, people would mention characters like gatotkaca or arjuna or rama and they don't see that as indian, they just see it as indonesian stories and characters, unless they're trying to prove a point or something.
