Serious answer: It's a tacit pact, at some point we decided the domestic rivalry was over and that we would cooperate, that permits gringos to focus on the wider world, exploting their maritime capabilities, using us as an economic booster like in WW2, and us to not spend much on defense and industrialize using the American market. Since nuclear weapons and mass mobilization would be easy for us to do given our size and industrial base, a conflict between our countries would be the end of NA, something none of us want, we have much in common with each other and a shared home.
