I gave up on The Boys half way through s2 but read some s3 summaries about how this one is about the mystery of basically this universe's version of Captain America, so my first thought went to how they're going to reveal he's an ebil asshole like Homelander because this is a show made by cynical edgy sois and they cannot have earnest goodness, especially if a white/WASP man. Invincible wasn't perfect but at least in between the edgy bullshit the heroes were often genuine and it wasn't only a procession of cynical meanspirited bullshit
