I do like the thing remake. The thing from another world is pure kino. The same thing goes for the fly.

ITT contrarian opinions

I agree with op don’t get the hype

Was the 1982 movie a remake?

@169211335
Yeah nice OP great bait.

yes the original with the vegetable frankenstien is a classic.
its also a bit shit tho. Carpenters version is just a bit better. Even the dogs can act.

Now the day the earth stood still remake with keanu....................fuckety hell thats a bad film

this movie is one of those that seems really perfect in you early 20s but then you watch it again a few years later and realize how flawed it is

Great music, though.

yeah i would like to hear about these flaws

It’s boring and doesn’t deliver on half the shit you pretend it does

The easiest way to tell someone has never watched Howard Hawks' The Thing is if they claim it's better than Carpenter's remake. The original Village of the Damned is lightyears ahead of Carpenter's, but The Thing from Another world is like a rejected Twilight Zone episode stretched out to feature length

Yes, the original is not anywhere near as great.

Cringe.

reminder that the thing 1982 is NOT a remake

go on...tell me what i think some more

Nah. The 1951 original is kino. 1982 is ok. The 2011 prequel to 1982 is also pretty good.

1951 existed first. 1982 is a reboot. 2011 is a prequel to 1982. These are facts. If you disagree you'll just have to cope, seethe and dilate.

based

what's with this recent trend of pretending these black and white creature features were ever good? is it an ironic inside joke that got out of hand and the people who genuinely think they're good just didn't get the memo?

The 1934 3D remake of Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat pales in comparison to the 1896 original
