honestly one of my favorite things about SG-1 was that you got to see the progression of humanity from a normal modern human civilization into a space faring race with interstellar starships told over 10 seasons. that was a lot of fun. its like every other show takes place long after that process and references it, but in SG-1 you see the whole thing unfold in basically real time.
