Russians will tell you gay parades but the answer is quite simply the corruption of our society by skeptics and thieves. There are some beautiful traditionalist Catholic churches being built in the United States actually, but of course they will not receive state support like in Russia

Russian religion isn't Christianity, they have a strange mix of communist ideology with some pagan customs and Christian traditions which only has the task to make Russians support whatever Putin does. It's kinda similar to North Korea, maybe a bit less awkward (at this point but it can get worse in the future).

Well, even the original orthodoxy was created by Byzantine emperors exactly for this purpose (justification of all emperors' decisions), it was used the same way in tsarist Russia, then in the USSR and modern Russia continues this tradition.

How can you not be a skeptic in this environment? Western religion has destroyed itself and ironically, the only religion a Westerner can hold onto with any real sincere conviction is Orthodox Christianity, which is not Western.

Western countries build ugly buildings because there is ZERO sincere religious feeling in the West today. Let’s not even mention that these beautiful Catholic Churches started construction at least a century ago and instead just go to them and actually talk to the clergy. They don’t even believe what they preach. You ask them theological questions and they don’t even have answers. Any coherent narrative has been lost completely and the result no artistic vision for that is anything but purely egotistical or confused.

Best case scenario we find a way to look back with some conviction but once doubted, confidence will never really be restored again. Can technically impressive Cathedrals be built in western countries again? Sure. But they’ll be surrounded by Mosques, and synagogues, and Buddhist temples, new age buildings, and while they’ll be very technically impressive none of them will ever be as sincere or spiritual as a Russian church is ever again.
