i remember fondly going to civil war reenactments when i was in middle/highschool. I knew it wasn't cool, but my buddy from scouts and I enjoyed it. To be on the union side, you needed either your own, expensive outfit, or to rent one for like $50-$100 a night. same with the gun, and all the rest: you had to rent them. but the southern side didn't charge you anything. Just barrow a coat from some fuckin redneck with an extra one, and a pair of pants from another redneck, and you got your uniform. there was always an extra rifle and black powder for the guns. And at night you either get drunk with the rednecks, smoke a cigar (they didn't give a fuck that we were in highschool) or just hang out in your tent and listen to music on your ipod. shit was pretty cash, ngl. but i never dared tell anyone at school, especially since i "marched under the stars and bars". i was 100% union boi. USA USA USA 'MURIKA ALL DAY EVERY DAY HOPE AND CHANGE BABY OBAMA 2012
but now that i'm older, and read a lot more books, i aggressively second guess my union sympathies. "the war of northern aggression" is not hyperbole. fuck slavery, fuck racism, but also fuck the yanks.

in real life, americans are welcome here in south korea. don't trust the exaggerated racism about my country that is spreading on the internet. in this country, americans are probably the only westerners treated kindly by the locals. we do like america unlike europeans.
