It's not about the current geopolitical situation. I am just getting old, and since I've never managed to travel abroad in my youth when I still had a tiny spark of adventure spirit within me, I really doubt it could happen in the future. Travelling to a neighboring town sounds like a huge pain in the ass to me nowadays, let alone anywhere further.

Don't let that get you down. It's expensive, but spend the cash to go to a place you've always wanted to see. Once you're there, the rest will unfold. You might have to push yourself a little, but it'll be worth it in the end.
