We should do an eclectic style. Put it as much native architecture as possible but add some Spanish colonial to complement them solving for things that the natives didn't.
Have it be rule for all new buildings and city planning.
I stayed in a village in Spain not too dissimilar, called Uncastillo, nice place, pleasant people. I like how they live, all coming out when it gets dark to sit out on benches and at tables talking with their neighbours, drinking and eating.
I think you have the right intention but I dont think you really took the time to study that architecture, hopefully Im wrong.
Thats a city layoun that doesnt have a reason to be amymore. Thats a city with a state religion and state run temples, sacrificial area and skull displays.
But I agree with the idea of bringing native architecture back. Im fond of the quetzalpapalotl "palace", the palace idea may be an old world concept applied to a new world building that had its own rules though. Spaniards did this a few times like they called a mayan pyramid a castle and they also called other pyramids towers.
where is the Wal Mart

This is not to say mesoamerican urbanism should not be used. Is just that the city center would not have those buildings.
But the overall city could still be planned very a similarly to how the mesoamericans planned cities.
Spanish and mesoamericans didnt plan cities that dissimilar actually. They both had have a plaza in the city and the plaza was the center of the city, temples/churches around it and they both used grids.
But the mesoamericans had I think a more pleasant conception of buildings almost as living things that like to look at each other.
Why is the pickup sign in English?
Didn't know Mexico had a wal Mart built inside a Masjid. Very halal. I might move to Mexico after all..
I recommend you to watch these. Theyre very good.

Small towns and villages didn't have pyramid temples like that. They were the same buildings minus the church
And this

I felt inspired to build pyramids and churches in minecraft
You mean the same buildings as the OP? Actually no. Mesoamerican buildings mostly didnt have any windows and I see many windows in that town. Mesoamerican buildimg would have small building with one room or rooms and big door in the front. If if it was someone wealthy with a big house they would still have no windows an in instead have a patio surrounded by rooms and they would get light that way.
