Dumb aliens

Why didn't they just tell the humans what the fuck they wanted? They could've just given them a dictionary right away.

Tentacle porn

a dictionary doesn't work if you don't know the alphabet you fucking oaf

I could give you an Ancient Egyptian dictionary but you don't know what Stork on top of Snake means you absolute dunce

Knowing their language somehow giving you magic time travel powers was really hard to swallow

Movie would have been only 10 minutes long

They operate on convoluted time travel rules.

The aliens can see the future therefore they know all nescessary human languages so they are able to provide all the needed context you absolute brainlet.

They could've added 80 minutes of Amy Adams sex scenes then.

the aliens can't see the future you muppet, they just don't experience time as a sequence the way humans evolved to

From the aliens perspective, this film is retarded. No way aliens would waste that much time trying to teach a bunch of retards their language.

They said they would need the humans' help 3000 years from now

Lifeforms with these bodies shouldn't be able to create space ships in the first place.

Not a bad movie, but killed my suspense of disbelief when a linguist is sent to communicate with the aliens.
Everyone knows maths would form the basis of communications with extraterrestials.
But, I guess, you need to throw them liberal arts majors a bone here and then, lest they feel completely useless.

Why not just use fucking math?

Seriously. If we ever come across an intelligent race we're using prime numbers, because *any* intelligent lifeform would know what they are.

Math. Is. A. Universal. LANGUAGE.

>Poops poop darker than Amber's
>Doesn't elaborate
>Leaves

That movie was just meh.

Fund it

You can just admit you haven't found a high paying job in STEM, buddy.

At least I can find a job.

Flipping burgers? We know.

The "aliens are so advanced yet radically different that they are dumb" trope is really tiresome. Star Trek Discovery also did it last season.

Everyone in STD is dumb, though

the only excuse that's acceptable is if the ultra advanced aliens purposefully set up a language barrier to weed out lesser species that can't get on their level

Yeah she should have gotten shrunken and then cock bored.
