>Budget: $13 million
>Box office: $329.4 million
Why don't any recent movies do these kinds of numbers?
Budget: $13 million
Well most movies don't have Natalie Portman.
What about Get Out?
There's like 2 or 3 interesting movies per year.
>Why don't any recent movies do these kinds of numbers?
Because they all cost $100 million dollars or more. And if execs are spending that much, they refuse to take any chances, and if you refuse to take any chances, the movies are typcially boring, and people won't make an effort to watch them.
>Because they all cost $100 million dollars or more.
Not if they're made by A2A
>Not if they're made by A2A
True because they'd be shit.
Black Swan is a film from an era that is long dead. Thanks to marvel (and Disney in general), 13 million dollars is enough for half of an A-listers salary. If they made Black Swan today with Natalie Portman it would cost 100 million minimum. Film production costs have exploded and it's not just actor salaries either. 13 million dollars is literally peanuts in Hollywood.
I meant good movies not arthouse mockbusters.
you're acting like low budget indie movies with A listers don't get made anymore
Portman was B list when she made Black Swan
It's the movie that made her A list
At the time, Natalie Portman was only really known because of Star Wars. Also, film costs have tripled since then.
are you fags zoomers? portman was definitely A list before black swan, she had oscar nominations and hits outside of star wars like v for vendetta and closer
even got cast in thor before black swan was released
Box office receipts fell off a cliff in 2020, so only blockbusters with big marketing have been getting big returns the last two years. Joker did a billion on a $70m budget, though
Oh, and Us did $255m on a $20m budget, so Peele's two for two there
>Copied Perfect Blue
Gee I wonder why it did so guud hmmm.
>>Copied Perfect Blue
Both movies copied Repulsion and The Tenant, but weebs have no knowledge of movies outside of weebshit.
>The Tenant
I wouldn't go that far but Repulsion for sure
This movie was pre-MCU where people actually went to see films that weren't part of pre-established franchises
