The meditation chamber would have at least made a little more sense, the white interior makes it easier to see Vader. Having a black costume against a black throne made it difficult to see him, and having his arms propped up on the rests looks goofy.

Because instead of making a fun cat and mouse story about Obi Wan being a badass jedi master successfully jobbing the inquisition any chance he gets while keeping Luke safe, and heck even having the Leia rescue plot, Disney Wars wasn't happy with just tearing Luke down in the NuTrilogy. Obi Wan was white and male so it was his turn to get literally raked over the coals and made to look like shit.
