That's just the plug for doubly insulated device (or type two), which is most of them. Grounding is only used when you have to use metal in the construction for structural reasons.

The German would be perfect with a hole in the middle and it would be compatible with Italian plugs (we have them here, obviously). Yours is an abomination and i fucking hate it. Cons about the shucko is too tight and it fucks your wall if it's not installed tight into the wall.

The Italian and German/EU are basically the same.
There is a very basic adapter that evryone uses with German appliances and it's barely noticeable.
