This. Although it would have made much more sense if there was a scene with Obi-Wan talking about it. Obi-wan saying “don’t try it” implies that they both know exactly what move he is going to attempt, but we as the audience have no point of reference. In other words, George Lucas is a hack.

He’s arrogant, blinded by rage and thinks he’s more powerful than obi wan and wants to prove it to him, so he tries off some extremely risky move. Ends up failing and getting his legs chopped off.
