None. They were a half baked idea to add le ominous threat of le ebic war to the story all shit stories have to rely on now for fat hack to use as a crutch after he ran out of human drama with no idea what he was going to do with them or how they fit in the story.

In the end nothing, remove them from the story and you just lose a few actions scenes. idk if they will play any significant role in the books (not as if they are getting finished anyway) but I doubt GRRM knows what to do with them either

Ultimately no point. To get your hopes up for something cool & then let you down.

He's just standing there, ominously!

I guess it was meant to be a nihilistic view on life.

>Whatever Game of Thrones you play, it's meaningless in the face of certain death

So maybe the threats from the Long Winter are the cycle of death of life but then they beat them in the end anyway so oh well.
Were they meant to spur a story of co-operation in the face of certain death?

existential threat to get everyone to stop being petty about political squabbles and band together for once to fight for life itself

S1: winter is coming
2: winter is coming
3: winter is coming
4: winter is coming
5: winter is coming
6: winter is coming
7: winters is kinda here
8: winter is here and its fuckin nothing

a statement saying climate change isn’t really a big threat

If the fat fuck ever finishes the book series it's pretty obvious with all the foreshadowing that the winter apocalypse is going to happen. The showrunners didn't have the creativity/balls to go through with it since 90% of the cast would be dead in the end

the supernatural parts of got are the worst. they shouldn't have been added

Why doesnt everyone just move across to the warm desert lmao

They're great when they're in the background and keeps you guessing, like S1 of True Detective.
As soon as you see 100,000 zombies the mystery is gone.

>Summer is coming...

The long night lasts one night.... also to weaken Khalisis army before the real fight ....

They were solid guys, and good friends

winter in 2 weeks bro

to give jon snow something to do before they reveal him as a tar-gare-ian

there was a point when they used to be the unknown entity north of the wall
the second they put a face on them they became a fucking joke

>watches fantasy show
>complains about magic
At least half of the posters on this board are legally retarded

They don’t do anything in the books either because they’re such a far flung threat. Like they may or may not assault the wall but there is no clear way for them to scale or destroy the wall.

They were the dome in PUBG. Or they were, until Arya girlbossed them to death in an instant.
