Being part of the EU market, also helps them massively. Even though they are a junior member of the union, their opinions really don't matter.
Also, none of these countries have a good track record of monetary policy.

Latam does not have a prestige to exploit, no one buys luxury good from latam. Latam needs to industrialize, and follow the playbook of east asian countries, export oriented development.
But because latam is ruled by criollos and the descendants of europeans, they will always look to europe for inspiration.
Even though europe is not a good example of how to bring countries out of poverty.

East asia is where latam should look towards. They actually managed to emerged from poverty without slaving anyone, or exploiting colonies.
